The Bus Station

John Vachon's Bus depot, Washington D.C. 1951

This image never fails to stop in me in my tracks. Whatever petty thoughts I'm having run for the hills to make room in my brain and my heart for this couple. I know exactly what they're thinking. And I would love to know what happened to them because I feel like I know them. I guess in a way I do.

Last summer (?) I gave a ride to the Greyhound station to a soldier who had a few more uphill blocks to hump. Didn't ask a thing and I know that in this day and time, it may not have been the smartest thing tot do. But, my Dad always said that when I needed help, all I had to do was look for a military uniform. I think it should go both ways.

Thanks for the comment the other day. Ever think of a second/third career as a psychologist? I think you'd be a lot of help to the active brats.

I know what they're thinking. I know how their guts are feeling, too. I dreaded Sundays. That was the day the SADF reclaimed their men. I'd have this look on my face from Friday night, finding it hard to shake it off in thoughts of Sunday and what it would be like... Glad it's all over now and that I have my prize!
